At the Tuesday, December 10 Committee of the Whole meeting of the Springfield City Council CWLP has scheduled representatives from the University of Illinois' Prairie Research Institute to provide updates on a number of US Department of Energy research projects underway at the utility.
Dr. Kevin OBrien, Director of the Net-Zero Center of Excellence and the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the Prairie Research Institute, will discuss the innovative carbon capture initiatives at Dallman Unit 4 that include a large-scale pilot of carbon capture technology, positioning Illinois as a leader in carbon capture research; and Nathan Webb, Principal Research Scientist and Head of the Subsurface Energy Resources Section at the Illinois State Geological Survey, will give a brief introduction of the CarbonSAFE project.
