The public is invited to the City Water, Light and Power Water Plant for the next City Community Connections event to learn about Springfield’s water supply and purification process. This event offers a behind-the-scenes look at Springfield’s drinking water system and the dedicated employees who work every day to provide safe, reliable, and affordable water to our community.
Take a Tour of the Water Treatment Process
Guests will have the opportunity to join one of three guided walking tours at:
- 4:15 p.m.
- 5:15 p.m.
- 6:15 p.m.
The tours will showcase the complete water treatment process, including pump stations, clarifiers, and the filter gallery. Participants will learn how water is treated and monitored before it reaches homes and businesses throughout Springfield.
Meet the Team and Explore Interactive Exhibits
In addition to the tours, visitors can meet CWLP Water Department employees, see equipment up close, and learn more about the work that goes into maintaining Springfield’s water system.
Educational stations will provide information on:
- Water quality and testing
- Water conservation
- Boating safety
- Lake patrol operations
There will also be games, giveaways, and activities for children and families.
