Why Upgrade to a High-Efficiency Toilet?
By replacing a 20- to 30-year-old toilet with a newer model, you could save nearly 3,000 gallons of water per year for every person who regularly uses that toilet.
If upgrading to a WaterSense®-labeled high-efficiency (HE) toilet, the savings increase even more. These toilets use 1.28 gallons or less per flush, saving an additional 600–1,100 gallons per year per person, without sacrificing performance.
Powerful Performance, Less Water
High efficiency doesn’t mean low performance. Today’s WaterSense-labeled toilets are designed to flush effectively using modern technology. All WaterSense-labeled toilets meet strict criteria for efficiency and effectiveness. Popular options include:
- Dual-flush toilets: Choose a lighter flush for liquids and a full flush for solids.
- Pressure-assist toilets: Use pressurized air for a fast, powerful flush (with a noticeable “whoosh” sound).
- Single-flush gravity models: Improved designs that deliver reliable performance with less water.
