Local control and a local public power workforce has equated to great affordability and reliability for CWLP electric customers.

AFFORDABLE RATES
CWLP residential electric costs for the past few years have trended below the average compared to other Illinois residential electric customers. In a comparison of January 2025 through July 2025, electric costs at CWLP for the average customer were 30% lower or $44 lower per month as compared to what customers of other Illinois utilities paid. Commercial rates in a recent survey indicated CWLP’s rates per kWh match or are lower than most peer utilities as well.

RELIABILITY
CWLP customer power outages have averaged 88 minutes in duration over the last 13 years in comparison to Ameren Illinois with 194 minutes and ComEd at 167 minutes.

HEALTHY COMMUNITY & ECONOMY
Our low cost utilities contribute to Springfield’s low cost of living and support a healthy local economy. Reliability matters for a healthy community and economy as well.
