Lake Springfield Watershed Info-Session On Urban BMPs Set

CWLP, the Lake Springfield Watershed Resource Planning Committee and the Sangamon County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) invite the public, in particular those who are located in the watershed, to its info-session to learn about urban best management practices (BMPs) that support cleaner water and healthier landscapes. The event is scheduled for Monday, November 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield, 9 Club Area Road in Springfield.

This event will feature two speakers sharing practical and inspiring ways to make a difference in your own yard and community:

  •  Amy McEuen – “Deep Roots: Why Native Plantings Help Our Watershed”
Learn how native plants strengthen local ecosystems, improve soil health, and naturally filter stormwater to protect Lake Springfield and surrounding waterways.

  •  Landon Kirby – “Utilizing Innovative Landscape Designs and Materials to Control Residential Surface Water”
Discover creative and sustainable landscaping solutions to manage runoff and reduce erosion in urban and suburban settings.
