Jumpstart A Career at CWLP!

CWLP’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program combines paid, on-the-job training with coursework, helping you build valuable skills while working alongside experienced professionals in the following positions: 


When a vacancy occurs for Electrical Apprentice within any of the seven areas at CWLP, the position will be posted through the City of Springfield's Office of Human Resources.

Application Requirements
To be considered for a CWLP electrical  apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before the application period closes:
  • Be 17 years of age or older
  • Be a high school graduate or hold a GED
  • Have vision correctable to 20/20, with no color blindness
  • Hold a valid driver’s license at the time of background investigation and be able to obtain an Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) if required by the position
  • Earn a score of 6 or higher on the NJATC (Electrical Training Alliance) exam
The CWLP JATC offers testing sessions at CWLP’s facility located at 2730 Old Rochester Road in Springfield.  Upcoming test dates and times to qualify for the City's Electrical Apprenticeship program include:
  • Thursday, January 29: 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 12: 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Test scores are valid for 24 months from the date of testing. The exam may only be attempted once per 90-day period. All applicants for electrical apprenticeships must complete the Electrical Training Alliance online aptitude test before applying to CWLP.
