CWLP CREW WORK CONTINUES DOWNTOWN
Water Crew work continues on a 24-inch transmission water main that broke downtown this evening. The location of the break is at 5th and Monroe Streets. Crews have closed valves to isolate the repair area and water service is being restored. No boil order is being issued at this time.
For safety, the Springfield Fire Department requested that power be cut temporarily due to the potential for hazards around the main break area. Customers impacted in the power outage include those on south side of Monroe Street to Cook Street between 3rd and Fifth Streets, approximately.
Monroe Street will remain closed between 4th and 5th Streets through duration of repairs. Some lanes will be closed longer for road surface repairs where buckling has occurred.

City Water, Light and Power water crews are responding to a break to a large transmission water main downtown. The break near 4th and Capitol Streets has caused water to flow onto roadways in several areas and reduced water pressure for some. Drivers should avoid or expect delays where some roads are temporarily closed.
